steps for best preparedness at the 2024 CSA Pickup
Here are some guidelines and helpful tips to make your visit easier and more enjoyable!
Location: All CSA pick-ups occur on Saturday mornings at 12 McCarty Road, Tyringham, MA. Search Woven Roots Farm in your favorite map app! Pickup is between the hours of 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM on the main floor of the barn. Use the ramp (not currently ADA compliant) to access the barn. Someone will be inside the entrance of the barn to greet you, sign you in, and update you on CSA happenings.
Parking: The parking area is to the left of the driveway and is one-way beginning at the second opening with a sign that says, "Parking" with an arrow. Two accessibility parking spots are located in front of the big greenhouse. Look for blue “Accessibility Parking” signs on the right.
Bags: Each week’s share fills 1-2 standard shopping/grocery bags approximately 15” tall, 12” wide, and 7” deep. We strongly encourage reusing bags and bringing additional produce bags of varying sizes. It’s also a good idea to bring reusable produce bags to transport loose items that are not bundled, like spinach or beets. Repurpose the produce bags you get at the grocery store, zip-lock bags, or opt for a Vegibag for these items. Our produce is distributed in several ways, including heads, bunches, loose greens, and root vegetables, and can sometimes be damp from washing.
Coolers: Consider bringing a cooler if you think you’ll be running errands after your pick up, or if it’s a particularly warm day and you want to take your time on the farm after you gather your produce.
Driving in Tyringham: With your bags and other materials in hand, it’s time to leave your four-legged friends at home and head out to the farm! Enjoy the drive, and remember that Tyringham is a small town, so please respect the neighbors as you drive through the area.
Connecting With The Land: Lastly, we encourage you to take a moment to pause while visiting the farm! Take a walk into the fields, listen to the birds in the trees, experience the beautiful landscape around you. And as you do this, know that this landscape nurtures your soul and your body, and that it is tended by people who care about the land, both its history and its future, and know that to be a Woven Roots CSA member is to be a member of a true community.
Please exercise caution when walking around the farm— especially in the field, where there may be holes, slippery surfaces or other tripping hazards. We ask that you remain on the outskirts of the garden beds as our aisles are narrow and field production isn't always clear to the untrained eye. Throughout the season, there will be opportunities for pick-your-own. Signs and directions will be posted for ease of access.
