The Northeast LGBTQIA+/BIPOC Beekeepers Alliance

The Alliance is a grassroots network addressing
the distinct challenges of building a resilient and equitable beekeeping industry in the Northeast, led by They Keep Bees and Island Bee Project in collaboration with Woven Roots Farm, Pocasset Pokanoket Land Trust, and the University of Vermont.

The Alliance’s approach supports small- to mid-scale beekeepers by equipping them with strategies, resources, and education to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Simultaneously, it fosters a community of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC beekeepers in the Northeast who share resources, skills, and bees.

Sonrisas

Cheshire, MA

In 2005, Sonrisas was founded by a collective of community members from the cooperative village of El Largartillo, Nicaragua, to grow upon their ancestral model of solidarity not charity that they had build throughout the years during the revolution.

Sonrisas organizes across imposed borders, bringing together lived experiences of those from strategically exploited countries. Through uplifting those whose needs are most inaccessible, we weave community that is rooted in care.

We are proud to be fiscally sponsored by Sonrisas.

Berkshire Hills Regional School Disctrict Farmers in Residence Program

Great Barrington, MA

Led by Sarah Monteiro of Greenagers and Jen Salinetti of Woven Roots Farm, this program—funded by a USDA Farm-to-School Grant—aims to connect students with the land, specifically Project Sprout, and engage them in a range of learning opportunities. In addition to these opportunities, the farmers support other areas of student interest and provide connections to farming and careers in agriculture.
